The game comes from the makers of the classic World War I games Verdun and Tannenberg. It transports the player to a fascinating but lesser-known front: trench warfare over the Alps, where Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire battled in frequently perilous circumstances.
It has a whole new class system, high-altitude conflicts over the peaks, crewable artillery, customizable characters, and much more.

Here’s how the developer officially describes the game:
- Assaulting mountain fortresses, fighting through devastated cities, and crossing rivers are just some of the tasks you’ll encounter as you battle your way through various opponent positions.
- Tactical multiplayer FPS: Pick your role and load out wisely to make it through this high-altitude battle – Play as a sniper to take out opposing engineers before they can break your wire, clear hostile machine guns with rifle grenades, and much more.
- Historical Offensive is a game mode based on actual conflicts that focuses on the specific problems of Alpine warfare. Fight with more than 30 WW1 weaponry, toxic gas assaults, and heavy artillery barrages.
- Place your wire, sandbags, trench periscopes, and more to ensure victory! Whether digging in or going all out, you’ll need to shape the battlefield to your advantage if you want to win.
- Faces of War: Customize each class by selecting a wide range of historically accurate clothes, accessories, and headgear. You may even choose your mustache from various iconic period-accurate styles as a final touch!
- Fighting for the Kingdom of Italy or the Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy in an authentic WW1 atmosphere: Accuracy in everything from maps and weapons to music and clothing.
