Disney made the surprising creation of Tron Identity official as part of the D23 Disney & Marvel Games Showcase event.
At least when compared to the 1980s, the Tron video game series isn’t as popular as it once was.
However, Disney is actively looking for collaborators for licensed projects, which is how Tron and Tron Identity came to be.
A brief teaser clip made the formal announcement only hinted at the game’s connection to the Tron world.
A Tron identification disc was seen progressively lighting up in the video, like a loading bar approaching 100%.
The only additional information is revealed in the teaser. That Disney and Bithell Games are working together to produce Tron Identity. The game will be released in 2023.
Tron Identity’s brief D23 teaser was devoid of information. However, a Steam profile became up after the game was announced and provided additional details.
A graphic adventure novel modeled like the detective show Query called Tron Identity.
In a brand-new Grid that has been abandoned by users and left to fend for itself, Query is looking into a crime that jeopardizes the Grid’s existence.
The gameplay will contain branching choices that directly affect Tron Identity’s plot, all of which will aid Query in solving the game’s central mystery.
As said, Bithell Games is the company behind Tron Identity. In addition, Bithell is renowned for its wide range of independent releases, such as Volume, Thomas Was Alone, and John Wick Hex.
However, Bithell has concentrated on adventure games more lately, such as Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular, as well as the solitaire game The Solitaire Conspiracy with an espionage theme.
The previous works of Bithell should demonstrate a new goal to deliver captivating tales via innovative gameplay.
Perhaps more than anything else, the Tron Identity revelation demonstrates Disney’s willingness to experiment with its gaming license.
Of course, it’s hard to imagine anybody expecting that a Disney or Tron visual book will be created for publication in 2023. However, Tron Identity is a fascinating project and a unique opportunity since Bithell Games is working on it.
Tron Identity is only one example of Disney’s efforts to form intriguing gaming alliances. Disney could easily accept significant collaborations like Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Instead, there are titles like the tactical role-playing game Midnight Suns, Marvel: World of Heroes from the makers of Pokemon GO, Disney Illusion Island, a co-op platformer unique to the Nintendo Switch, and a remake of the Sega Genesis classic Gargoyles. In addition, Tron Identity is a respected brand.
