Microsoft stated about a year ago that it is developing a game streaming gadget that would allow customers to broadcast games from practically anywhere as part of its Xbox Everywhere effort. While no specifics were previously known, new information indicates that this might happen shortly. Here are the specifics:
Coming Soon: An Xbox Streaming Device
According to GamesBeat, the Xbox streaming gadget will be available next year. It will resemble a Roku, Chromecast, or Apple TV device and will be in the style of a stick like the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
By connecting the gadget to a TV or monitor, users will be able to stream cloud games from Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, eliminating the need to purchase an Xbox gaming system. The streaming gadget is also likely to gain the exciting feature of being able to stream movies and TV programs. As a result, the streaming gadget will appeal to both gamers and movie enthusiasts.
At the 2021 E3 online event, Microsoft hinted at its ambitions for a game-streaming gadget. “We’re also creating standalone streaming devices that you can put into a TV or monitor. If you have a good internet connection, you can stream your Xbox experience,” said Liz Hamren, the company’s CVP of gaming experiences and platforms. For those who are unaware, E3 2022 has been cancelled outright.
Microsoft is also working on an Xbox game-streaming software allowing access to cloud games on Smart TVs. This is reported to have been done in partnership with Samsung. As a result, owners of Samsung Smart TVs will not need to purchase a separate streaming device. Next year, the app is scheduled to become official. Samsung’s latest Smart TVs already support Google Stadia and Nvidia’s GeForce Now for those unaware. It would thus make sense for Microsoft to join the list as well.
This revelation comes after Fortnite was just made accessible on Xbox Cloud Gaming by Microsoft. This is part of the Xbox Everywhere Initiative and will enable users to play the popular game on their cellphones (including iPhones), tablets, and PCs.
It is unknown when the Xbox streaming gadget will be available for purchase. We’ll keep you updated on the situation. As a result, stay tuned and share your ideas in the comments section below.
