Since the introduction of wireless charging technology for smartphones and other gadgets, there have been dramatic technological advancements in this field.
While Apple is believed to be conducting reverse wireless charging methods to charge iPhones, Xiaomi unveiled its Mi Air Charge technology that is the first-of-its-kind through air wireless charging technology in January 2021.
In the meantime, Samsung is stepping up its game to create its wireless charging technology, which could recharge mobile phones and other accessories via the air.
Samsung Wireless Through-Air Charging Technology Unveiled
According to a report from Patently Apple, The South Korean Patent Office published PCT/KR2021/009778, a patent submitted in the name of Samsung recently.
It is the invention of a portable wireless device for power transfer that will charge smartphones and other compatible devices without physically coming into contact with them.
The Korean giant says the possibility exists to design an energy transmission device wirelessly together with a resonator placed on the top of the charging gadget or near it.
The Resonator could then expand the transmission range for wireless power nearby devices that allow wireless charging.
Samsung emphasizes that wireless power transmitters could be designed to cover the whole 360-degree circle within it and deliver energy to devices within the range.
Samsung further states that it can use multiple resonators surrounding the wireless power transmitter to expand the reach of wireless charging through the air.
The patent is below for more details on the way it will function.
It is essential to note that while Samsung has filed patents for its fully wireless charging technology, it is still in its infancy stage that is developing.
It could take a while for Samsung to introduce its technology.
However, it would be interesting to find out if Samsung will be able to outdo Xiaomi or Oppo in this area since they are the Chinese giant that has made remarkable advancements in the field of wireless charging.
However, Patently Apple claims that Apple already filed a similar patent in 2013, which was a long way ahead of Xiaomi and Samsung.
However, we haven’t seen the Cupertino giant add this technology to its products.
