How long can you play a game? Maybe you can get 5-6 or even over 10 hours for your favorite games like online slots, but do you think you can play more than 200 hours? If it sounds impossible, let’s point out that this was made by a YouTuber named AboFlah recently, and thus, two different world records were broken. AboFlah had a live stream that lasted more than 200 hours, and while he did not play games all the time, he remained online for more than 10 days. In doing so, he also achieved the highest viewership number for a charity stream.
The World Records
On January 7, 2022, a YouTube gaming content creator known as “AboFlah” entered the Burj Park building in Dubai and locked himself inside a giant glass box. On the walls of the box, this was written in English and Arabic: “I will be locked in here until I raise 10M dollars to warm 100,000 families.”
He really did: when AboFlah came out of the glass box on January 18, 2022, he had set two Guinness World Records:
- The longest live stream (video) – 268 hours 14 mins 20 seconds.
- The highest viewers count for a charity live stream on YouTube – 698,000 (peak number).
AboFlah’s real name is Hassan Suleiman, and he is a very popular content creator. His YouTube channel has more than 24 million subscribers and over 3 billion views. Although he mainly shoots videos about PC and console games, he is also known for his short vlogs and comedy shorts about popular culture. AboFlah is also a member of the Dubai-based Galaxy Racer team.
Why Did He Do This?
AboFlah did this as part of a campaign called “World’s Coolest Winter”. This campaign is organized annually by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He is the vice president, prime minister, and ruler of Dubai. World’s Coolest Winter has been held since 2020 and aims to promote the tourist spots of the United Arab Emirates. The campaign tries to show that the UAE is a tourist destination that can be visited not only in summer but also in winter.
This year’s campaign, on the other hand, is trying to draw attention to the refugee problem and collect aid for refugees by collaborating with Galaxy Racer, a lifestyle organization based in Dubai. That was the purpose of AboFlah’s live stream: to raise money to help refugees get through the harsh winter conditions. The goal was to raise $10 million, but AboFlah has managed to raise more than $11 million.
These donations will be delivered to refugee families around the world in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Food Banking Regional Network. More than 100,000 refugee families are expected to benefit from the donations raised. These will be predominantly Jordanian, Iraqi, Lebanese, Syrian, and Egyptian refugees. However, even 11M will not be enough for them all: it is estimated that there are around 3.8 million refugees in the Arab region alone. So far, lots of campaigns have been organized to help these people. AboFlah’s stream was one of the most interesting events and was supported by famous names such as Kristin Davies, Amr Maskoun, Noor Stars, and Omar Farooq.
Who Is AboFlah?
AboFlah is a content creator born in 1999 and is among the YouTube stars with the fastest increase in the number of subscribers. He started streaming on YouTube in 2016 and has created mainly FIFA, Fall Guys, and Fortnite content. At the time of this article, his YouTube channel had over 24 million subscribers and his Instagram account was followed by more than 7 million people. It is thought that one of the reasons for his popularity is that he appeals to Arab youth, which need stars speaking their language. AboFlah has, therefore, gained attention and has reached millions of subscribers in a very short time.
