Google Photos featuring the ability to hide private images

Google Photos has introduced several new features to help users revisit memories and even protect selected images. During the current Google I / O 2021, the tech giant revealed all the new changes that will be introduced to the Photos app.

However, the idea is to hide Google photos off the camera roll. So you don’t have to worry about showing them to someone you didn’t mean to while scrolling through other images.

If you want to move photos and videos from Trash to Locked Folder, you will need to restore them first. However, follow the steps outlined below.

Only people with whom you have shared your screen lock will be able to access the locked folder. The private collection can be accessed from the tab “Library”> “Utilities” (in the upper right corner)> “Locked folder” (near the bottom).

How to Hide Google Photos on Android devices?

  1. On your device, open Google Photos.
  2. Go to Library at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Touch Utilities and look for Locked Folder.
  4. Click on ‘Configure locked folder’.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to unlock your device. If your folder is empty, you will find “There is nothing here yet”.
  6. Your device must have the screen lock set; otherwise you will need to configure it first and then create the locked folder.
  7. Thereafter, you will be able to select and add images to the locked folder that will not be visible in the gallery.

You can also choose to directly save your photos to the locked folder by following the simple steps below:

  • Open the camera app on your device.
  • In the upper right corner, tap Photo Gallery and then Locked Folder.
  • Now you can click on an image and it will be saved to the locked folder.

Google It says that the locked Photos folder will be rolled out “soon” on devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and later. Once live, users will receive a “Set up locked folder” notification from the Photos app.
