Getting Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2

As of the date of this article at the time of writing, you can’t download Boneworks directly to the Oculus Quest 2. 

There doesn’t seem there are any intentions by the company to bring Boneworks onto the Oculus Quest 2 wireless VR headset. 

Instead, the company is currently working on a new game that will utilize the foundation of Boneworks and put it to use in a completely new game that will be available for Oculus Quest 2.

The developer’s only information about this project was an update posted on Twitter in May 2021 when it was announced that the team working on the project was going through prototypes of what it planned to showcase and film.

 The development team has not shared any further updates regarding the project that has been made public since then.

Even though this could appear to be bad news, there are some silver linings. 

If you have an operating system that can play VR games, you’ll be capable of playing Boneworks using the Oculus Quest 2 through Oculus Link or Air Link.

Playing Boneworks on Oculus Quest 2 via Quest Link Cable

To play Boneworks through the Link cable, Follow the steps below:

1. Launch the Oculus application on your computer. It is available for download here if you don’t have it.
2. Turn on your Oculus Quest/ Quest 2.
3. Connect the Oculus Link cable into a USB 3.0 port on your PC. Plug another end into the USB-C port on the Oculus Quest headset’s back.
4. If you’re presented with an alert within the screen of your Quest 2 to ‘Enable Oculus Link’ and select the option to enable, and you’ll be taken on your Oculus Home screen on your PC that is displayed on your Quest headset.
5. Select Boneworks in your collection, and then start playing.

Playing Boneworks via Oculus Air Link

1. Start the Oculus application on your computer.
2. Be sure that both the Oculus Quest headset and your computer are connect to the same Wi-Fi network.
3. On your computer, Go to Settings within the Oculus application, then click the tab called ‘Beta,’ and make sure the “Air Link” option is select.
   1. Navigate to the ‘Settings’ in Your Oculus Quest and select the Air Link option.
   2. Choose your computer from the list, and then start Air Link.
   3. Select ‘Bone works’ from the Oculus library and then load it.
