Apart from sending out the warning, WhatsApp quietly changed its Help Center’s “About supported operating systems” section. WhatsApp now states that its platform will only be supported on iPhones running iOS 12 or later. It works with Android 4.1 and above and KaiOS 2.5.0 and up.
This effectively implies that after October 24, iPhone 5 and 5C owners will be unable to use WhatsApp on their smartphones. The aforementioned devices are not compatible with iOS 12, as Apple often discontinues support for newer iOS versions on older devices.
