Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Frontline is new Battle Royale Game

Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Frontline: Ubisoft has announced Ghost Recon Frontline, a new entry in its tactical shooter series that moves the game in a new but familiar direction.

Developed by Ubisoft Bucharest, Frontline is a full-scale PvP shooter that carries on the tactical heritage of the shooter, but implements it in a multiplayer first-person shooter experience.

The standard gameplay in Frontline, Expedition, pits 100 players against each other in small teams of three-person squads. Their goal is to find crucial information and extract it.

But they must compete with the other squads to do so. The action takes place on Drakemoor Island, which was described as 4×4 km in size and features four distinct biomes and 20 landmarks.

According to Ubisoft, a key part of the experience is assembling and developing your team of Contractors, which is the name of the soldiers in Frontline. Players will start with two of them.

But will be able to hire new ones, customize them, and develop their capabilities. Contractors are class-based and three have been confirmed so far.

Classes are highly specialized to fill specific roles, and through this, Ubisoft hopes that the tactical nature of Ghost Recon will come to light.

The assault class works as you would expect, serving as a close-range fighter who can push opponents to corners and seize opportunities.

Meanwhile, the scout works as a long-range agitator and can take out unsuspecting enemies and also increase team economy so more support items are available faster. The support, for its part, is capable of strengthening positions.

One of the key game considerations that Ubisoft hopes will set Frontline apart from other Battle Royale games is the ability to change the battlefield.

Players will be able to earn and deploy equipment, weapons, and gadgets. However, specific items such as turrets, cover, and even a sniper tower can also be placed.

Frontline will have other modes available, one of them geared towards a more casual style of play that feels like a classic sand shooter style experience.

But with all the Frontline game hooks available. Ubisoft has said that it intends to roll out more modes on a seasonal basis.

Frontlines appears to be very different from what Ghost Recon fans expect, especially in perspective.

Traditionally, Ghost Recon games tend to be third-person shooter games that are slower-paced to encourage planning and methodical execution.

According to Ubisoft, the decision to move to the first person was to improve the immersion.

Whether or not this works remains to be seen, but some people will be able to test the experience through a closed trial. If you are in Europe, you can register now for a chance to enter.

Currently, Ubisoft has not indicated if and when people from other regions will be able to join the trial.

The studio has also said that Frontline is in an early stage of development and wants to use feedback to shape the experience.
