Epic Games have stopped sales of games in Russia: There has been a lot of outrage worldwide about Russia’s recent attack on Ukraine.
Besides world leaders and governments, private businesses have also cut off access to their services for people because of the sanctions they have put in place.
People in the country have stopped Nintendo, EA, and even Activision Blizzard.
One more company is trying to make the Russian people feel like they need to pressure their government to stop taking over Ukraine.
Epic Games is now on the list. This is what the company said in a statement on Twitter: They said that they were “stopping commerce with Russia in our games in response to its invasion of Ukraine.” If you live in Russia, you can’t buy games from Epic.
The company said that Russian players could still play games like Fortnite, including chat functions, to “keep all lines of communication open.”
This might let players keep in touch with friends outside of Russia and, hopefully, get them more balanced news than the Russian government is giving them now.
As a result, sanctions like this aren’t going to have the same effect on the Russian economy as those put in place by the government.
However, they have a more direct impact on people’s lives.
It’s hoped that this will make them want to fight their government and create a more significant change.
