Techland has stated that it expects the game to be released on Switch “within one year of the date originally set.”

While no explanation was offered to explain this delay, Techland stated that it decided to postpone Dying Light 2‘s Switch launch “in to provide players with the gaming experience on the level they need and [the developer] would like to offer.”

Dying Light 2 Initial thoughts and gameplay.

It’s been a busy couple of months in the world of Dying Light 2 in the meantime as Techland is preparing its long-awaited debut.

The developer last week made headlines for declaring that players would require “at least 500 hours” to complete the game.

This number swiftly revise downwards in response to criticism from fans and has also reveal a swift first glimpse of the co-op gameplay, as well as a much shorter gamer’s perspective video for consoles as well as a “guarantee” that it will be able to support the game with a minimum five years of DLC post-launch.

Dying Light 2 finally launches next month, on the 4th of February, following a turbulent and volatile development that has seen several delays, notable staff resignations, and numerous complaints of mismanagement at Techland.

Despite all that, initial impressions suggest that the studio’s efforts have been successful; The Eurogamer’s Martin Robinson¬† left impressed after playing the initial phases of the game at the close of the year.
