GDC Reveals Game of the Year contenders.

GDC Reveals Game of the Year contenders:  The winners will be announced during the annual 22nd Game Developers Choice Awards.

While this year’s Game Developers Conference was online for the last two years, the event for 2022 is live and will be held in San Francisco, CA, from March 21 to 25. 

The Game Developers Choice Awards or GDCA are among the most anticipated parts of the annual event, giving recognition to the game developers who pushed the way in terms of audio, design, storytelling innovation, social impact over the last year.

Five games have been selected for the GDCA Game of the Year award. 

Three nominees will be familiar to people who watched The Game Awards in December 2021. 

Resident Evil Village, Arkane Studios, the time-hopping first-person shooter Deathloop, and TGA Game of Year winner It takes Twoare all in the running to be awarded the prize at GDCA.

The other games include Inscryption, a horror-themed deck builder developed through Devolver Digital, and Forza Horizon 5.

Some contenders who are up to win the GDCA Game of the Year award are also nominate in different categories. Deathloopis being considered for six other awards. 

Two have been select for five awards, while Forza Horizon 5has kept pace with four nominations. The winners of the various categories are announce during the GDCA ceremony on 23 March.

 The ceremony will be streamed live on the GDC Twitch channel.

The game was released in September 2021 for PC, and as the first exclusive to the timed console available on PlayStation 5, Deathloop was able to transport players into the tale about two assassins trapped in a loop.

 The FPS was developed by the same studio that created Prey and the Dishonored series, and Prey in 2017 Preyimmediately was a standout due to its distinctive design and captivating story.

 This game has already received accolades from other associations and has received mostly positive reviews from critics and players.

Hazelight Studios’ It Takes Twosnuck onto the scene in a flash and immediately caught the attention of gamers. 

It takes Two can only be played cooperatively; it requires two players to collaborate to solve puzzles and unravel the complicated relationship between the characters in the game. 

Although generally described as an adventure-type game, Hazelight’s third game offers an impressive mashup of different genres. 

The levels contain gameplay elements from platformers and racers, shooters, and various games. Alongside being named Game of the Year at TGA, It Takes Two has also been awarded and nominated for several categories at other awards shows for video games.
