Dragon Quest Treasures Launches New Gameplay Screenshots

The recent announcements by Square Enix, which included an update to Final Fantasy 16 and the introduction of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, have drawn much attention.

During the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Dragon Quest Treasures, the most recent spin-off in the cherished long-running JRPG series, got its first playtime, a subtle but thrilling surprise.

Following this announcement, Square Enix has provided further gameplay information and pictures for Dragon Quest Treasures.

At a presentation honoring the 35th anniversary of the Dragon Quest series in May 2021, Dragon Quest Treasures was initially shown among titles like Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D and Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate. Given that a large portion of the team behind Treasures had previously worked on the Dragon Quest Monsters series, a spin-off of the main series that centered on capturing and battling the series’ iconic monsters in a manner akin to Pokemon and Shin Megami Tensei, Treasures was one of the most intriguing games revealed during the event.

Conceptually, Treasures is quite similar to this series. Still, it also prologues to Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age by tracing the infancy of party members Erik and Mia, who are mentioned in the main game.

The gameplay thus far has focused on these creatures’ capture and combat, but today’s pictures and details reveal the game’s more complex mechanisms.

For starters, progress is shared across both characters, and gamers may switch between Erik and Mia at any moment.

Two-spirit helpers, a cat spirit named Purrsula and a pig spirit named Porcus, will accompany Erik and Mia.

Dragon Quest Treasures’ gameplay will consist of the standard monster collecting and training, all of which were once again created by Dragon Ball manga creator Akira Toriyama.

This time, similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will also be able to travel the planet utilizing the monsters to seek riches. The game’s primary focus is on employing monsters that have been captured, trained, and brought back to Erik and Mia’s stronghold to acquire treasure and bring in cash. Additionally, enemy rival gangs may sometimes search for riches against Erik and Mia, leading to conflict.

As of right now, Dragon Quest Treasures seems to be an intriguing new spin-off in the beloved franchise for both new and longtime fans, as well as someone who will certainly catch the interest of players of games like the most current Pokemon games.

This December, the game will be released simultaneously around the globe as part of Square Enix’s ongoing effort to increase the popularity of Dragon Quest in the west.
