Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ Chipset to be Introduced by Qualcomm in May

A “Plus” version of the recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is being made by Qualcomm, just like in the past. It may be released soon, and phones with this chipset will also be available soon. Here’s when the launch will happen.

Launch Timeline for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+

In May, a report says that Qualcomm will make the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip. To remember, last year’s Snapdragon 888+ was released in June, so the chances of this being true are high.

It is also revealed that the new high-end Snapdragon SoC will be called SM8475 and will be made on TSMC’s 4nm process node, making it the first Snapdragon chip to use TSMC’s process node. It will be called SM8475.

It’s based on Samsung’s 4nm process technology, which has reportedly caused some high-end phones to overheat and slow down. TSMC may be making the switch because they want to fix these problems when the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant comes out.

There are still a lot of technical details we don’t know about, but we can expect some improvements to CPU and GPU performance and more.

It’s not clear what kind of devices will be running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. However, a previous report said that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which hasn’t been announced, will have the new Qualcomm chipset.

People who make phones like Motorola, OnePlus, and more can do the same. There are likely to be a lot of new phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ in June 2022.

In addition, Qualcomm is also expected to launch new Snapdragon 700-series chipsets simultaneously as the new ones. It is expected that more information will become available once the chipset is out there. Soon, Qualcomm will let us know when the device will be out. So, stay tuned for more news.
