We all want to lead healthy lives, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. For a med student like me, the place to start was a summer internship at Basis.

One of the simplest and best tools to increase self-awareness is objective self-tracking. Benjamin Franklin was one of self-tracking’s earliest advocates: He charted his progress toward “moral perfection” by keeping a daily log of whether he practiced 13 virtues, from temperance to humility.
